So I went to the movies today with a girlfriend from South Africa and we saw a film called Dicen por ahí. I am not sure what it is called in english but it is with Jennifer Aniston and Kevin Costner. Anyways, it was such a sweet movie to see. Not because teh acting was expecially good, or the script was extremely interesting, although these things could be true of the film. But en serio, there were so many scenes that took place in California. Like the San Francisco, the wine country, and even Half Moon Bay! I sat there soaking in the beauty of each scene, knowing that I can always return home to it. Mom, when I finally come home to visit, we are so taking one of our road trips up to Napa like we have done in the past.
I live near a long thin park called Parque Forestal. It's really quite a nice park and it has a long stretch of a lane for riding bikes or jogging. And since I have a fear of riding bikes in this city, I jog. It's really pleasent. I usually listen to radioDisney on my mp3 player and jog along to Jonas Brothers, Beyonce, or Julieta Venegas. Great stuff. Yesterday on my jog I noticed that the trees were beginning to change. Fall has finally arrived and I am glad for the change. But as I was jogging through the falling leaves, I began to think about how much I like fall. And I had this special moment when I realized that I want to be here in Santiago, jogging through this park for many falls to come. After the past few weeks of cultural adjustment being a little more painful than normal, this was a nice thought to have.

Nigel and I went up last weekend to Napa (for some great wine tasting), and the mustard flowers were all in bloom, so the vineyards were covered with yellow flowers. The Bay Area is beautiful right now -- hills are turning green, trees are flowering, even the California poppies are starting to bloom. The sunsets have been amazing. The weather is perfect: mid-high 60s, blue skies. It will be here when you get back, I promise!
